Tunica recreation

Built in 1999, the G.W. Henderson, Sr. Recreation Center was the first recreation facility constructed in Tunica County. Since then the Tunica County Recreation Commission has developed several programs designed to serve the youth and adults of Tunica County.

Youth and adult sports, baseball, softball, and basketball tournaments, summer day camps, and cultural arts programs are just a few of the ongoing programs at the Henderson Center.

Boys and Girls Club of the North Mississippi Delta

The Boys and Girls Club offers National Programs to all Tunica County youth. The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of the North Mississippi Delta is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantage circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The Boys and Girls Club of the North Mississippi Delta currently has two units in Tunica County, Mississippi. The Tunica County Recreation Commission unit currently has over150 active members enrolled in the after school program and over 100 participants in our out reach programs, (Cheerleading, Tunica Teens in Action, Majorettes, and Girl Scouts). The White Oak Unit currently have 75 members enrolled in the after school program and 30 members in the outreach programs.

 

Cultural Arts

The cultural Arts Program of the Tunica County Recreation Commission seeks to offer a veriety of classes and activities for the community which will provide opportunities for individuals of all ages to explore the joys of self-expression through performing and fine arts, enjoy the fellowship of participating in group projects, develop skills and talents in the fine arts through private lessons and classes, integrate socially with members of the community through cultural experiences, showcase the talent and spirit of Tunica County through art exhibits, talent shows, plays concerts and recitals, enjoy performances by guest artists and performing arts groups, and to reach educational and professional goals through continuing education classes such as GED/ABE, Spanish and CPR/First Aid.

Saturday: 10am - 6pm
Sunday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
